Wrong Shop at Villa Noailles' Design Parade
An unmissable event on the shores of the Mediterranean
This summer, celebrate emerging talent and creative innovation at two festivals renowned for their cutting-edge design and architecture in the South of France. For 2024, Wrong Shop is proud to participate in the annual Design Parade from Villa Noailles, marking a continuation in our journey to support and showcase contemporary design.
Design Parade encompasses two major events: the 18th edition of the Hyères International Festival of Design and the 8th edition of the International Interior Architecture Festival in Toulon. The Hyères festival will run until 1 September 2024, while the Toulon festival extends until 3 November 2024.
We are excited to announce the opening of two special Wrong Shop pop-up stores at both Hyères and Toulon locations. These pop-ups will feature a curated selection of posters available both framed and unframed, reflecting the iconic art centre’s dedication to contemporary design, architecture, photography, and fashion. Our showcased artists and designers include Ronan Bouroullec, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Martin Parr, Bertjan Pot, Rop van Mierlo, and Richard Woods. This is a unique opportunity to see the works in person from these distinguished creators.
Villa Noailles, an architectural masterpiece by Robert Mallet-Stevens, is perched on the hills of the medieval village of Hyères. It was commissioned by Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles with the vision of creating "a small, interesting house to live in." Over the decades, this "small" holiday home became a hub for artistic brilliance, hosting luminaries such as Picasso, Cocteau, Man Ray, and Jean-Michel Frank.
Today, it stands as a restored testament to its historical significance and continues to inspire with its blend of art and design. Longstanding Wrong Shop designer Ronan Bouroullec has worked with the site for over 20 years. In 2023, as part of the rich programme celebrating its centenary, the Villa Noailles presented three exhibitions which took the form of a triptych where Ronan Bouroullec's three intertwined daily practices are brought together in a single work: drawing, clay—through his ceramic sculptures, vases, facing tiles and bas-reliefs.
Since its inception in 2006, Design Parade has established itself as a crucial platform for discovering new talents in the fields of design and interior design. Often referred to as “the Cannes of Interior Design,” the event is highlighted by two major competitions, each with its own jury. These competitions are instrumental in launching the careers of emerging designers, offering them a prestigious stage to showcase their innovative work.
Wrong Shop’s participation in Design Parade 2024 underscores our commitment to celebrating contemporary design. We invite you to visit the stores at both Hyères and Toulon to explore the posters on display.
