Wrong Shop at Salone del Mobile Milan 2023
New pieces by Bethan Laura Wood, Ronan Bouroullec and Nathalie Du Pasquier and more revealed at exhibition and pop-up store in Brera Design District
In April 2023, we made our Milan debut with a new collection and pop-up store during Salone Del Mobile. The Milan Salon Collection showcased extraordinary edition prints and posters by contemporary designers from across the globe, introducing brand new works by Ronan Bouroullec, Jaime Hayon, Nathalie Du Pasquier and Bethan Laura Wood.
For Milan Design Week, we joined forces with long-time Wrong Shop collaborator George Sowden who presented his latest light designs, alongside ceramics from Danish company Raawiii in the new 44SPAZIO shop.
The latest artist addition to the brand, Bethan Laura Wood’s Crestata print series brings a new medium to our range and premiered in Milan. During lockdown, Wood took to drawing her collection of cacti and succulents. The captivating shapes and movement transformed into colourful ink drawings. Now, they are produced as exclusive, limited edition prints that conjure dreamlike new worlds. Her first limited edition print release, the artwork is block printed onto delicate Japanese Takeo Tela paper.

Ronan Bouroullec added two new drawings to his ongoing poster series. Alongside his work as a designer, drawing – which has been a regular activity since early childhood – occupies an important place in Ronan Bouroullec’s daily life. Form unfolds progressively through repeated gestures, and line and colour reach across all sides of the composition in Drawing 22 + Drawing 23.

New limited edition prints by iconic artist and designer Nathalie Du Pasquier titled Thick Line Drawings are embossed relief images. Her multifaceted practice effortlessly falls between art and architecture and celebrates a purist approach to geometric, abstract form. Her artistic language reflects an interest in geometry, variations and systems, taking the complexity of simple structures and making them mesmerising.

Contemporary posters from artist Rop van Mierlo were also revealed. Rop’s alluring animals, made in his signature watercolour style, take new forms of untameable creatures Snow Leopard and Frog. The latter was commissioned for The Rotterdam Eye hospital, who sends beautiful T-shirts of the animal print to children ahead of their stay to reduce fear and create a feeling of community.

Discover Jaime Hayon’s poetic new series ‘I Find You In The Emptiness’ which continues his frequently used themes of nature, history, folklore, and culture. Hayon’s new work uses his limitless imagination to create impeccably realised designs of joyous visual delight. Hayon says: "Despite the emptiness, you are able to find someone. These new works have a theatrical atmosphere where the elements are both the subject and participants of the setting.
