Anni Albers
Color Study (Blue and Reds) Size D
This 1970 colour study by Anni Albers was designed for a print that was never realised. Triangular motifs reflect the tension between order and chaos in nature’s crystalline structures, as well as Anni’s interest in Mexican culture. Inspired by her many visits to Mexico and her fascination with Mesoamerican forms, she also collected pre-Columbian artefacts and textiles.
Created in close collaboration with the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation to honour the legacy of one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Modernism.
Great effort has been taken to maintain the correct colours, design and appearance of the original artwork throughout the reproduction process. This however means you will see small marks and inclusions within the image which have been kept purposely to retain the authenticity of the original artworks in accordance with the Albers Foundation specification.
