This 1967 piece is part of Josef Albers' seminal Homage to the Square series, a two-decade exploration of colour interaction and his most influential artistic achievement. With mathematically arranged concentric squares in varied hues, this series—spanning over two thousand works—remains a foundational influence on colour theory and art education today.
Created in close collaboration with the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation to honour the legacy of one of the most influential figures in 20th-century Modernism.
Great effort has been taken to maintain the correct colours, design and appearance of the original artwork throughout the reproduction process. This however means you will see small marks and inclusions within the image which have been kept purposely to retain the authenticity of the original artworks in accordance with the Albers Foundation specification.

Josef Albers (1888-1976) was a pioneering figure in 20th-century abstract art and art education. He began his career at the Bauhaus, where he studied and taught for over a decade, becoming renowned for his role as Meister of the foundation course. Josef went on to head the art departments at Black Mountain College and Yale where he influenced a generation of artists, including Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, and Eva Hesse. His teaching methods and theoretical work, particularly his exploration of colour, continue to shape art education today.
